フラ衣装としてのスモックドレス
One day in January 2004, I saw a home page of a halau hula in Hawai‘i. There were some pictures of ho‘ike. The hula dancers looked very beautiful and graceful. They wore holoku, mu‘u mu‘u, and smock blouse and pâ‘û skirt. All the costumes had graceful atmosphere by their colors and shapes. The smock blouse looked charming and elegant on the dancers. I hoped to be able to make some elegant hula costumes for dolls.
2004年1月のある日，インターネットで公開されていた，あるハラウ・フラ（フラ教室）のホ・イケ（発表会）の様子を撮影した画像を見ていました。
ダンサー達の踊っている姿が，とても品があって，いいなぁ，と感じました。
姿勢や笑顔が，美しいのですが，衣装も落ち着きのある品の良い色とデザインで，とても素敵でした。
数種類の衣装のなかで，スモックブラウスにパウ・スカートの組み合わせもいくつかありました。
そのシルエットは慎ましやかで，かつ，ベテランのダンサー達を愛らしく引き立たせてもいました。
このハラウの雰囲気をお手本に，人形用の衣装を作りたいなと思いました。
試作したパウ・スカートが，脇が開いていて中が見える形のものに落ち着いたので，ブラウスもすそをひざのあたりまでの長さにして，ドレスを作りました。

The smock dresses for dolls have casings around the neckline and sleeves and elastics run through it.
着せ替え人形のために作りました。
襟と袖口にゴムを通しギャザーを寄せた，裾の長いブラウスです。

ゴムの端はゴム通しの中に始末してあります。
I sewed the hem with hand stitching, without using sewing machine, to make soft one.
布端の始末は，手縫いのブランケットステッチとまつり縫いで仕上げました。
ミシン掛けにすると，厚みが補強され，シルエットが上自然になるので，手縫いにしました。

The cloth is 100% cotton. The threads are 100% silk.
生地は綿100%です。
縫い糸は絹100%のミシン糸，ゴムは天然ゴム（巻き糸はナイロン）です。

洗濯機をご使用の場合はネットに入れて洗ってください。
